El presidente de Cuba, Raúl Castro, despidió a 165 profesionales de la Salud que viajaron rumbo a Sierra Leona para formar parte de la lucha mundial contra el ébola.
El diario Granma indicó este jueves que Castro dio un apretón de manos a cada uno de los médicos cubanos que se unirán a la lucha contra el virus que ha causado la muerte a más de 3,000 personas en África Occidental.
De acuerdo con el Ministerio de Salud Pública (Minsap), integrantes de este grupo que viajó a Sierra Leona (63 médicos y 102 enfermeros) tienen más de 15 años de experiencia y alrededor del 80% ha cumplido misión sanitaria con anterioridad, muchos de ellos en el continente africano.
Cabe mencionar que en este viaje fueron enviadas también las brigadas médicas hacia Liberia y Guinea Conakry, que van como avanzada con el objetivo de crear las condiciones para el arribo de otros colaboradores cubanos a ambos países, también afectados por el ébola.
