La decisión de Harold Henderson, quien fue funcionario de la liga, se anunció el viernes. Su fallo respalda la decisión de la NFL de suspender sin pago a Peterson por el resto de la campaña sin permitirle su reincorporación antes del 15 de abril.
El sindicato de jugadores de la NFL se opuso a la sanción. Peterson fue acusado de agresión contra un menor de edad en septiembre por golpear con una vara a su hijo, pero no objetó los cargos menores por agresión negligente en noviembre. Había estado de licencia con paga mientras su caso se decidía en los tribunales.
